Orphanage information

The Gutian County Welfare Institute was originally established in 1724 as the Gutian County Baby-Care House. After some name changes, it was formally established in 1960 as the Gutian County Welfare Institute. It is about 90 miles from Fuzhou. According to one report, it has about 20-25 children in residence.

This area is known for its peaches, and fungus such as mushrooms and tremella (white fungus) are among its local product. Gutian is also the site of Linshuigong Temple, a well-known temple honoring the Goddess of Birth.
