Fujian Province Orphanages
In Fujian Province in recent years, most healthy babies who end up in orphanages have been adopted relatively quickly by local Chinese families. However, babies with medical conditions are rarely adopted locally. As a result, most of the babies and younger children in Fujian orphanages have some sort of special need. Some of these children will eventually be adopted internationally, but many will grow up without families in an orphanage.
Some of the orphanages in Fujian Province are listed on the left. For most of these orphanages we have very little information. For some others, especially those where FujianKids has programs or has provided assistance, we have more details. Much of our information comes from adoptive families who have had contact with their child’s orphanage. Families who adopt from Fujian Province orphanages normally receive their children in Fuzhou, the provincial capital. It is often possible to arrange a visit to the child’s orphanage, but travel is slow in the mountainous terrain, and it can take many hours to reach some of the more remote orphanages.
