On January 17th, in the afternoon, Orphanage's staff, the Children's Unit's coordinator, and Yan Xiao Hong, brought along Yan Gui Ying, Huang Xiao Bao, Yan Yun Jia, Yan Nan Xing, and Yan Jing Ya to “Jia Heng Nanping Department Store” to shop for new clothes for the New Year. Once arrived at the Department Store, the children were extremely excited. They browsed in the clothing section to choose something that they liked. Jia Yun didn't like the yellow or the green, and finally set eyes on a red sweater with a white fur collar. After they have chosen their own clothing, they then picked something pretty and suitable for An Di, Huo Di, Mu Tu, Xiao Fu, Xiao De, Xiao Bing, and Guang Ming who couldn't come on the trip with them [these students in the orphanage have disabilities that impair their mobility].

On their way home, they were thrilled and were a bit hyper, running along the streets and laughing. When they arrived at the orphanage Xiao Bao and Nan Xing, who were carrying the new clothes, ran inside yelling out, “We've bought the clothes!” In the orphanage, everyone tried on their new clothes in excitement, and afterward, the caretakers folded the clothes neatly and put it away until New Year's Day.

On New Year's Day, Special Class children woke up especially early, and after they have all finished their breakfast and washed their face, they all put on their new clothes to get ready for Chinese New Year festivities organized by orphanage staff. The festivities started at 9 and they participated enthusiastically in all the games and activities. Besides Xiao Bing and Guang Ming who needed assistance, all of the other children completed all the games by themselves. Lots of prizes and goodies were distributed to the children, including food and snacks, games, and daily products etc.

Orphanage director told the children, “A new year means a new beginning. You will be one year older and wiser. All of you have to try your best to accomplish your goals.” Children all nodded in unison, and they all wished that there will be more activities like these in the future.
