Medical Treatment
Some of orphanage children need major or minor surgery to improve their health and quality of life. The Chinese government is able to pay for many, but not all, of the needed surgeries and treatments. The FujianKids Medical Fund provides necessary medical treatments for children who aren't covered by government programs. Some of the procedures we've covered include heart surgery, club foot repair, diagnostic procedures such as x-rays and MRIs, cleft lip/palate repair, and hepatitis B testing and treatment. We also have provided rehabilitation equipment and training to orphanages so that cerebral palsy children can grow with straighter limbs, eyeglasses, wheelchairs and walkers, and other medical equipment that improves the quality of children's lives. This school is in one of the poorest parts of Fujian Province. Because of the poverty in this area, many orphaned children are unable to attend school. FujianKids sponsors orphaned children at the school so they can get an education. Without an education, these children are destined for a life of relentless poverty.

Hearing Impaired Children
Hearing aids. Many hearing-impaired orphanage children need hearing aids and speech therapy, and we need both large and small donations to this program to cover the cost of hearing tests, hearing aids, and speech therapy (learn more about this program).
Education for deaf children. There are several deaf-mute children at the Fuzhou orphanage ranging in age from infancy to 14 years old. In the past, these children received no education and no training in sign language. FujianKids has established a classroom in the orphanage where these kids learn sign language, reading and writing, and other basic skills. We need donors to cover the teacher's stipend of $111 per month. We also support an orphanage child in another city in the local school for the deaf. We would like to increase the number of deaf children that we support this way.

Foster Care
A foster family gives children the special care they need and provide them with a good start in life. Sponsors of foster care children will receive photos and periodic updates on their child's growth and development. The cost of a foster care sponsorship is $600 per year, which can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually. A donor can choose to be either a Full Sponsor or a Half Sponsor ($300 per year). Please contact us if you wish to learn more about this program or sponsor a child. One-time donations to our Foster Care Fund are also appreciated; they help cover unexpected expenses and allow us to place children with urgent needs in foster care immediately, rather than waiting to find a sponsor.
Supplies and Equipment for Orphanages
Contributions of blankets, clothing, or equipment like washers and dryers can greatly improve the quality of life for children in orphanages. Some of the items we purchase for orphanages are listed below. If you're interested in making a major equipment purchase for an orphanage, please contact us.
Bouncers for Babies. In some orphanages, there are so many children that caretakers have littl
e time to hold the babies or interact with them. Baby bouncers are a way to provide some stimulation to these little ones. You can provide a bouncer seat for an orphanage for just $8.
Clothes for Kids. Orphanages have limited resources, and it's sometimes difficult to meet their children's clothing needs. Active toddlers wear out their clothes rather quickly, school age children need suitable clothing so they can fit in with their classmates, and winter coats are expensive. For $20, you can purchase a complete clothing outfit for an orphanage teenager or a pre-teen (including new underwear and shoes) or outfits for several younger children. Cribs. Some orphanages have old wooden cribs that are hard to keep clean, and some cribs aren't large enough to safely hold older babies. Appropriate cribs make it easier for orphanage nannies to take care of the children. You can provide a sturdy, safe crib for an orphanage for $45.
