Many orphanage children have special medical needs. Some of these children are eventually adopted and their medical needs cared for by their adoptive families. Other children have urgent conditions that need immediate care, or have less chance of adoption due to serious problems requiring extensive medical care. FujianKids has helped orphanage children with medical needs in three ways.

• Providing urgent or short term surgery such as cleft lip/palate repair, club foot repair, tumor removal, heart surgery, and other procedures.
  
  
• Sponsoring long term medical treatment, such as reconstructive and plastic surgery for children with extensive scar tissue from severe burns.
  
  
• Providing medical equipment such as hearing aids, walkers, and wheelchairs for children, and physical therapy equipment and training for the treatment of children with cerebral palsy (see photos).
